Alcohol law

Alcohol licensing is a complex and often sensitive area of council responsibility. Councils must balance legal obligations with public health priorities, community views, and commercial interests, all within a highly regulated framework.

We support councils, Licensing Inspectors, and District Licensing Committees (DLCs) with end-to-end advice under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.  Our highly experienced team includes specialists who have worked extensively across licensing, policy, and enforcement.  We assist with hearings, appeals to ARLA, the development of Local Alcohol Policies, and enforcement action.  We also advise on bylaw integration, deliver DLC training, and draft operational procedures.
